His analysis includes works written in Mexico, Colombia and Argentina from the second half of the 20th century. Torres-Astacio proposes that both miscegenation and pre-Hispanic -not Western- currents of thought developed a youth counterculture that defied all prevailing nineteenth-century conventions, staging a new possibility of being in the world.
