Among the abundant documents produced by the young reformists of the ’18 stands out the well-known manifesto, emerged from the pen of Deodoro Roca, entitled: "The Argentine youth of Cordoba to the freemen of America" published in La Gaceta Universitaria the 31st of July 1918. This text can be considered as the expression of a moment within a longer process whose background, as shown by Arturo Roig, goes back to the generation of 1837 in the Río de la Plata. Being this a strongly performative text, its effects extend into the national history to the present. His youthful, emancipatory and accentuated social commitment imprint was taken up in transformation projects of our universities elaborated in the decades of the ’60s and’ 70s, which hardly came to be put into practice because they were truncated since 1974 by the "Mission Ivanisevich" and definitely by the civic-military coup of ’76. In the midst of strong social and political tensions, the reflection on the social role of the University and philosophy with an Americanist stamp had rigorous and fruitful developments.
