Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Author's personal data does not appear anywhere inside the document.

Author Guidelines

PERMANENTLY OPEN CALL

Millcayac - Social Sciences Digital Magazine informs that the call for proposals of scientific articles, research advances, book reviews, essays, interviews and experience narratives to be published is permanently open.

The works should be framed within the following themes:

State and Social Movements in Our America: State; governments; participation; representation; politics; power; international relations; state institutions and public policies (education, health, labor, etc.); social movements (community, indigenous, peasant, union, among others); subjects, discourses and practices. Ideas and social and political processes from and for Our America.

Gender and Human Rights: women’s rights; bodily and pedagogical experiences;  dissident sexualities; memories and genealogies. Women’s, feminist, LGTTTBIQ and human rights movements. Gender policies, intersectionalities of discrimination categories: class, sexual difference, sexuality, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age, disability. Critical gender perspectives, feminisms and de-colonial studies.

Commons and society: Common goods (public good/common good), management, access and politics; principle of reciprocity, collective and community property; ecology; biodiversity; ecosystems and new economies; geo-corpo-politics; green economy; bio-socio-economy; good living/living well; strategies; sustainable social models. Socio-environmental movements; land, bodies and territories; land disputes; struggles and resistances.

Communication, Art and Culture: Mediatization, democracy and power. Discourses, media representations and communicational practices. Epistemology, theories and methodologies of communication. Culture and communication. New technologies. Cultural convergence and media ecology. Journalism. The construction of the event in the internet age. Youth culture and communication in the digital age. School culture and media culture. Communication, gender, class and race. Urban cultural consumption. Alternative, popular and community communication. Borders: art and communication. Body, policies and representation. Appearances in the press, cinema, television, internet. Activism and identities in art. Inscriptions in the body and performances. Representations of desire. Discursive practices. Texts, voices, narratives. Literature, theatre, music, photography. Tradition, museums, collections and patrimonial management. Consumption, audiences, and curatorial criticism. Tensions among the local, the regional and the global. Theoretical debates on the definition of visual studies.

 

The articles shall have a maximum length of 9000 words, including notes and bibliography. It is an academic reflection product of an interpretative, analytic, diagnostic, propositive, or comprehensive elaboration on a specific problem of the social sciences. Some suggestions for the elaboration of a scientific article are the following: Introduction; presentation of the subject; problem formulation. Argumentative development of the thesis or main ideas; presentation of the hypotheses or working assumptions. Conceptual elaboration; ending. Presentation of the results and conclusion. It is suggested the use of subtitles along the body of the article to achieve a better presentation and comprehension of the argumentative development. Do not use more than three levels of titles.

For the research advances, the maximum length is 2500 words. Data shall be presented with the following textual structure: Report identification (Name, Institution, Place and Date); Introduction (Problem formulation and foundation. Objectives. Theoretical framework. Hypothesis); Methodology (Type of design. Population. Data Sources, Stages. Collection procedures, Analysis procedures). Results (Introductory summary, Specification of general data. Accomplished stages. Objectives Achieved); Conclusions (interrelation of the information contained in the introduction, methodology and results, projections); Transfers and/or beneficiaries, Training of human resources training and bibliography.

The maximum length allowed for Essays or Miscellaneous is 2500 words. The purpose of this section is to present the essay genre which merges opinion, creativity and formal knowledge, dealing with topics of academic and social interest (events, anecdotes or curious facts, unthinkable events, rarities).

The book reviews shall have a maximum length of 2000 words. They should be of books whose publication date does not exceed two years. They must have an original title, different from the reviewed book title. The information of the source book must  be present, including: Title, Author, Year, City, Publisher. XX pp.

Regarding interviews, the length of the text must be between 5000 and 9000 words. They should be interviews conducted with outstanding personalities from the social and human sciences context that are relevant in order to contribute to the dissemination  and discussion of the social, political and cultural scientific work.

Experience narratives shall have between 2000 and 5000 words. The purpose of this section is to present an experience (pedagogicañ, methodological, academic, of extension etc.) pertinent to the educational and/or the social and political scientific practice . It should present the following textual structure: theoretical and methodological framework, experience objectives, development and final conclusions.

Works must be original and unpublished. Each article, research advances, book review, essay, interview or experience narrative must be submitted in digital format (sent by email). The texts should not have any indication that would allow the identification of the author.

 

All articles must be accompanied by the following elements,  which shall also be submitted in digital format, in a different document:

  • Author/authors’ personal data. Must detail first and last name according to the Resolution Nº 2089-R  Rules and Recommendations for the acknowledgement of the authorship of work and institutional affiliation of the UNCUYO, the selected signature modality will allow you to be clearly identified and distinguished.
  • It must also include the following information: email, phone number, address and ID number.
  • Academic institutional affiliation (University, Research Institute, Department, etc.), City, Country. In case of having more than one affiliation, all of them must be stated. The way of citing the institutional affiliation is indicated in the Resolution Nº 2089-R .
  • Shortened CV (maximum length 12 lines). This must be elaborated in a commented way including the following information: first and last name, graduate degree, postgraduate training, research area, current activity, latest publications (refereed works).
  • Title of the work in Spanish and English.
  • Abstract of the work of no more than 100 words and its English translation (high-quality translation).
  • Keywords (no more than five) and their English translation.
  • Regarding reviews, no abstract or keywords are needed. A high-quality image of the reviewed book cover is required.

Recomendaciones para un uso no sexista en el lenguaje y para la redacción

 

INSTRUCTIVO PARA EL ENVÍO DE ARTÍCULOS

Those works that, according to the Editorial Committee of the Secretariat of Scientific  Research and Publication (SIPUC, Comité Editorial de la Secretaría de Investigación y Publicación Científica, in Spanish), respond to the subject of the publication and meet the formal requirements, will be sent to two members  of the Evaluation Committee (external evaluators) who will conduct an assessment ignoring the identity of the author/authors.

If both evaluators give a positive opinion, the work will be included in the publication plan. If they express divergent opinions, a third member of the Evaluation Committee will be consulted.

The SIPUC reserves the right to extend special invitations to distinguished personalities as well as invitations to specialists on the required subjects for the Magazine.

Papers should be submitted in digital format (DOC/RTF/ODT) following the suggested presentation guidelines.

Género y Derechos Humanos

Incluye temáticas referidas a los derechos de las mujeres; experiencias corporales y pedagógicas; sexualidades disidentes; memorias y genealogías. Movimientos de mujeres, feministas, LGTTTBIQ y de Derechos Humanos. Trabajo, educación, salud, economía. Políticas de género, Interseccionalidad de categorías de discriminación:  clase,  diferencia sexual, sexualidad, raza, etnia, nacionalidad, religión, edad, discapacidad.
