In search for territorial integration. Proposal for the strengthening of the urban system in the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina

This study of Human Geography, deals with the structure and complexity of the urban system of the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. It constitutes a scarcely developed territorial analysis in this province, which reveals potentialities and functional limitations in the territory. The aim of this study is to propose the reorganization of the dominant urban system in order to achieve better integration in the territory through the economic development of new strategic urban centres. In fact, we proceed with the processing of available statistical information, the application of quantitative techniques and the generation of cartographies. Therefore, the aim is to achieve fluid connectivity between new strategic cities and the dissemination of quality services to distant populations. The desired results, for a possible spatial planning, are based towards the creation of Thiessen model regions.
