Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the construction of the digital database of the Ethnography Division (La Plata Museum). We focus on the implications and challenges aroused during registration of two corpus: Gancedo and Ambrosetti.

These collections encourage deliberation on digitization in each case and also the impact on modifications to the database in general, since corpuses were constituted in specific historical and institutional conditions but are deeply related. Continuous interrogation on loading criteria and mechanisms enabled retroactive modification of the documentation system, adapted to the available ethnographic information. The contribution of this paper lies in its potential to strengthen both the administration and conservation of ethnographic collections, reinforcing institutional and heritage identity.
