The archaeological site of El Shincal de Quimivil, located in the town of Londres in the Belén Department (Catamarca Province, Argentina) represents one of the most significant testimonies of Inca presence in the Argentine Northwest. Its importance lies in the role it played within the Kollasuyu—one of the four regions of the Tahuantinsuyu—where it functioned as a political, administrative, and ceremonial center. This paper presents recent progress made in the preservation, management, and dissemination of the archaeological heritage associated with the site, through the integration of preventive conservation strategies and active local community participation. During 2023 and 2024, several preventive conservation measures were implemented at the site museum. These included the updating of the collections inventory in accordance with the regulations established by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología y Pensamiento Latinoamericano, systematizing photographic records, and training staff in current legislation and the proper handling of archaeological collections. In 2025, these efforts were complemented by participatory workshops developed in collaboration with key members of the Londres community. These workshops targeted both the site’s personnel and staff from the local Folkloric Museum. The training sessions focused on the reconstruction of pre-Columbian musical instruments and quipus, while also promoting the revaluation of the region’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
