Abstract

This article is part of the field of rural social studies and exhibits a set of findings regarding the educational and labor strategies of rural young women in the town of Barreal, Calingasta department, province of San Juan (Argentina). The work assumes a qualitative research strategy, which allows women to be seen as producers of practices and senses. Rural young women deploy strategies -not necessarily being conscious of it- enabled by the conformation of the educational structure, and in homologous linkage to a set of social dispositions related to the conditions of being rural, being young, and being women, internalized and differentiated according to the class position occupied within the rural social area.
