Silenced Bodies, Dissenting Voices: Technologies of Silence and Feminist Resistance in the Ni Una Menos Archive

Abstract

The article examines performative and visual practices—such as moments of silence at marches and images of victims—that construct an aesthetic of silence, in which the body becomes a means of denunciation and collective memory. Far from representing only absence or censorship, silence reveals itself as a force that allows for the reconfiguration of discourses and the visibility of structural violence exerted on feminised bodies. The archive not only documents trauma, but also enables new forms of political action and feminist representation. In short, the article proposes that the Proyecto Ni Una Menos: Recuperemos la imaginación para cambiar la Historia archive (2017) turns silence into a powerful language that challenges the symbolic order and recovers the body as a space for struggle and enunciation.
