Abstract

We propose to read the novel You will honor your father and your mother by Cristina Fallarás (2018) in the key of an internal displacement of the central character, who, going through the search for a silenced family truth, finds his own truth, with the truth of her people, with the condition of implicated subjects of herself and her environment, while understanding the reasons for her fears and inability to relate to others. This displacement occurs in a triple movement in writing and leads to the world of the dead. Only by bringing to light the history of his deceased ancestors is it possible for the character to work in his present and find the peace in earthly life that the book of Exodus promises.
