Code of Ethics

The Revista de Literaturas Modernas is a publication that adheres to the code of ethics of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE for its acronym in Spanish), which regulates editors, reviewers and authors, and is also committed to the document "CONICET: Guidelines for ethical behavior in the Social Sciences and Humanities (Resolution No. 2857, December 11, 2006)".

Commitments of the authors

Originality and plagiarism: Authors of manuscripts submitted to the Revista de Literaturas Modernas guarantee that the work is original and that it does not contain parts of other authors or fragments of other works already published by themselves. They also assure that any hypothesis-verifying data used is true and has not been altered during transcription.

Multiple and/or repetitive publications: the author should not publish the same contribution, nor repeat the same results, in another or multiple scientific journals.

List of sources: The author should always provide the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.

Authorship: In their manuscripts, authors should mention those persons who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution to the work to be published as well as to the interpretation of the results and the writing of the article.

Access: If the editors so consider, the authors of the articles should also make available the sources or data on which the research is based.

Conflict of interest and disclosure: authors are required to declare explicitly that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained or the interpretations proposed. They should also indicate any funding from agencies and/or projects from which the research article arises.

Responsibility: all authors are responsible, without exclusion of any kind, for what they have written. Authors also undertake to have reviewed the most current and relevant scientific literature on the topic they have analyzed.

Commitments of the reviewers

Contribution to the editorial decision: The peer review procedure is of key help to editors when making decisions on proposed articles. It also allows the author to improve the contribution submitted for publication. In turn, the reviewers are committed to a critical, honest, constructive and non-arbitrary review of both the scientific and literary quality of the paper.

Respect for time: The reviewer who does not feel competent in the subject matter to be reviewed, or who is unable to evaluate in the scheduled time, will immediately notify the editors. Reviewers undertake to respect deadlines, out of respect for the authors and their work.

Confidentiality: Each assigned manuscript must be considered confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with others without the express consent of the editors.

Objectivity: Peer review will be absolutely objective. Personal judgments about the authors of the contributions will be considered inappropriate. Reviewers are obliged to give sufficient reasons for their assessments. Reviewers will submit a written, critical and complete arbitration according to the model provided by the Journal of Modern Literatures, where they are also obliged to warn the editors if substantial parts of the paper have already been published, or of any similarity or overlap of the manuscript with other published works.

Text display: Reviewers undertake to accurately indicate bibliographic references to fundamental works possibly overlooked by the author of the article.

Conflict of interest and disclosure: Reviewers will referee a manuscript only if there are no conflicts of interest, and none of the information obtained during the peer review process may be used for personal purposes.

Editors commitments

Publication decision: the editors will ensure the selection of qualified reviewers, who are scientific specialists, in order to evaluate each paper with the least possible bias.

Honesty: the editors will evaluate articles submitted for publication only on the basis of the scientific merit of the contents, without discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality or political opinion of the authors.

Confidentiality: the editorial committee undertakes not to disclose information concerning articles submitted for publication to persons other than authors, reviewers and editors. The intellectual integrity of the entire process will be based on the preservation of the anonymity of authors and reviewers, and on the respect for the confidentiality of manuscripts during their storage time.

Conflict of interest and disclosure: the editors undertake not to use in their research the contents of the articles submitted for publication without the written consent of the author.

Respect for time limits: the editors are fully responsible for compliance with the time limits, no longer than recommended, for revisions and publication of accepted papers, thus ensuring a rapid dissemination of their results.
