Journal History
Created in 1956, the Institute of Modern Literatures (ILM for its acronym in Spanish) has been dedicated to the development of literary studies, in accordance with the genesis and evolution of epistemic approaches and attending to the theoretical-critical and methodological problems inherent to the specificity of its object of study, as well as to the interrelations with other disciplines.
Since 1956, the official organ of dissemination of the ILM has been the Revista de Literaturas Modernas. In it, priority is given to the publications circumscribed to the specialty of each of the sections of the Institute, which later bifurcated into two: Linguistics and Modern Literatures (an area that continues to publish the RLM). Since its beginnings, this publication has published the work of the professors of the Faculty, and also of collaborators from abroad, whose contributions have been and are in accordance with the subject matter and hierarchy proposed as an objective. In its articles and notes, the aim is to relate literature with other disciplines in order to enable a dynamic analysis of the texts, framed in their context of cultural production.
The RLM has more than 50 digitized issues and continues to disseminate knowledge uninterruptedly with its two biannual issues that include notes, reviews and interviews.
