Divino taller.
Enseñanza de las artes aplicadas en los Talleres de la sociedad del “Divino Rostro” en Buenos Aires (1914-1933)
Keywords:

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the arts and crafts workshops that took place in the society of the Divino Rostro between 1914 and 1933. By that time the workshops participated in various artistic, decorative and industrial exhibitions, a fact that gave greater visibility to the institution, even over their craftswomen and students, whose names still remain anonymous. The presence of the productions of this society in different relevant contests at that time will be studied in this work in the light of the discourses and discussions in relation to the applied arts and especially with respect to the production of ceramics and bookbinding. To this end, the critical repertoire that appeared in the press will be approached linked with the institutional documentation that has been preserved, as well as contemplating some aspects of the materiality of the productions. The main hypothesis guiding this paper argues that the artistic recognition and particular esteem that the Divino Rostro reached among the specialized consumer public was able to confer characteristics close to a seal of quality that involved in a particular way both the production of ceramics and the artistic bookbinding in frank expansion at the time.
