Biodiversity conservation faces growing challenges, and environmental education (EE) is positioned as a strategic tool to promote cultural and social changes that strengthen the relationship between communities and their environment. The objective of this study was to compare the representations and strategic models of EE implemented in the Ñacuñán Biosphere Reserve and the Telteca Reserve, with the aim of identifying the challenges and opportunities posed by the development of environmental education in the context of Protected Natural Areas. The results show that EE is mainly carried out under a transmission model, although participatory and dialogic practices are emerging with great potential to advance toward a systemic and co-constructed approach. A participatory and dialogic approach would integrate ethical, cultural, and ecological values, promoting critical reflection and awareness about biodiversity conservation. Based on this conceptual and geographical overview, new “biodiversity education goals” are proposed.
