El Acuerdo Trans-Pacífico en la campaña electoral estadounidense de 2016: un análisis de la relación entre política doméstica y exterior en el marco del ascenso al poder de Trump

El objetivo del artículo es analizar el tratamiento del Acuerdo Trans-Pacífico (TPP) como eje de la campaña electoral en Estados Unidos durante el 2016. Para ello, primero se incluye una introducción sobre las características del proceso de formulación de este mega acuerdo de libre comercio y sus objetivos. Luego, se analiza la elección de 2016: se incorpora un apartado sobre cómo fue incluida la discusión sobre el TPP en el Partido Demócrata y otro centrado en el Partido Republicano. En ese marco, se indaga en cómo la dinámica electoral fue modificando las posiciones de determinados legisladores, imposibilitando que el gobierno de Barack Obama contase con el apoyo necesario para poder ratificar el TPP en el Congreso. Por último, se destina un apartado al análisis del triunfo de Trump y el veto del TPP. El trabajo busca analizar, a partir de este caso, el vínculo entre política doméstica y exterior y la relación entre Estado y sociedad civil en los debates sobre políticas de liberalización comercial en Estados Unidos observando los cambios en las relaciones de fuerza. Para ello, se desarrolló un análisis cualitativo de caso a partir de un corpus documental que incluyó fuentes oficiales, declaraciones de distintos actores sociales y artículos de prensa.
