The Adriatic Sea, between the Italian and Dalmatian coasts, so close to each other, is a land of historical, economic and literary interesection. The novel Il Cerusico di mare, by the then young D’Annunzio, belongs to this universe. A text with obvious loans from Verga and Maupassant, pierced by dialogues in the Pescara dialect, and which recounts a navigation through the sea painted from the European decadence.
