Code of Ethics

The opinions expressed by the authors are their sole responsibility and do not necessarily represent the opinions of the Editorial Committee, the Academic Committee, the Consultants, or the Reviewers of the Revista Melibea.

The entire review and publication process will be safeguarded by a policy that adheres to the Code of Ethics established by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Author Commitment

  • Originality and Plagiarism: The authors of submitted manuscripts guarantee that the work is original and does not contain parts of other authors' work or fragments of previously published works. They also confirm the veracity of the data, that is, that the empirical data have not been altered to verify hypotheses.
  • Multiple and/or Repetitive Publications: The author must not publish articles that repeat the same results in more than one scientific journal. Simultaneous submission of the same contribution to multiple scientific journals is considered ethically incorrect and reprehensible.
  • List of Sources: The author must always provide correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.
  • Authorship: Regarding the authorship of the manuscript, the authors guarantee the inclusion of those who have made a significant scientific and intellectual contribution in the conceptualization and planning of the work, as well as in the interpretation of the results and in its writing. At the same time, the authors have been ranked according to their level of responsibility and involvement.
  • Conflict of Interest and Disclosure: All authors are required to explicitly declare that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained or the proposed interpretations. Authors must also indicate any funding from agencies and/or projects from which the research article arises.
  • Errors in Published Articles: When an author identifies a major error or inaccuracy in their article, they must immediately inform the journal's editors and provide them with all the necessary information to list the relevant corrections at the bottom of the article.
  • Responsibility: All authors accept responsibility for what has been written. The authors also agree to ensure that a review of the most current and relevant scientific literature on the topic analyzed has been conducted, taking into account the different currents of knowledge.

Reviewers' Commitment

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review is a procedure that assists editors in making decisions on proposed articles and also allows the author to improve the contribution submitted for publication. Reviewers undertake to conduct a critical, honest, constructive, and unbiased review of both the scientific and literary quality of the article within their field of knowledge and skills.

  • Respect for Timeliness: Reviewers who do not feel competent in the subject matter to be reviewed or who cannot complete the evaluation within the scheduled timeframe will immediately notify the editors. Reviewers undertake to evaluate the papers as quickly as possible to meet deadlines, given that the storage limits for pending manuscripts are limited and inflexible out of respect for the authors and their work.

  • Confidentiality: Each assigned manuscript must be considered confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with others without the express consent of the editors.

  • Objectivity: Peer review will be conducted objectively. No personal judgment about the authors of contributions is considered appropriate. Reviewers are required to provide sufficient reasons for their assessments. They are required to inform the editors if substantial parts of the work have already been published or are under review for another publication.

  • Text Visualization: Reviewers undertake to accurately indicate the bibliographic references of key works possibly overlooked by the author. The reviewer must also inform the editors of any similarities or overlaps between the manuscript and other published works.

  • Conflict of Interest and Disclosure: Confidential information or information obtained during the peer review process must be considered confidential and may not be used for personal purposes. Reviewers only review a manuscript if there are no conflicts of interest.

Editors' Commitment

  • Publication Decision: The editors will ensure the selection of the most scientifically qualified reviewers to provide a critical and expert assessment of the work, with the least possible bias.
  • Honesty: The editors evaluate articles submitted for publication solely on the basis of the scientific merit of their content, without discrimination based on the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, or political opinion.
  • Confidentiality: The editors and working group members agree not to disclose information relating to articles submitted for publication to anyone other than the authors, reviewers, and editors. The editors and the Editorial Board are committed to the confidentiality of manuscripts, their authors, and reviewers, so that anonymity preserves the intellectual integrity of the entire process.
  • Conflict of Interest and Disclosure: The editors agree not to use content from articles submitted for publication in their research without the author's written consent.
  • Timeliness: The editors are ultimately responsible for adhering to the time limits for the evaluation and publication of accepted papers, to ensure rapid dissemination of their results. They fully commit to meeting the published deadlines (maximum 30 days for evaluation/rejection from receipt of the manuscript on the Review Platform) and maximum 150 days from the start of the peer-review process). Likewise, accepted works will not remain unpublished on infinite waiting lists beyond the time allowed for publication in the next issue. Therefore, waiting lists will be avoided.
