Twenty years ago Walter Benjamin's essay The Work of Art in its Age of Technical Reproducibility was published in Mexico, translated by Andres Echeverria Weikert and with an introductory text by Bolivar Echeverria, entitled "Art and Utopia" (Editorial Ithaca, Mexico, 2003). Taking advantage of Andrés' visit to Mexico City, who currently resides in Quito, we had the opportunity to talk with him about the difficulties involved in the translation of Benjamin's text, the importance of the translation work and the relevance of Benjamin's reflections on technique for our present.
