Abstract

The aim of this text is to invite us to think about childhood through the singularity of M, a seven-year-old girl, a character in the novel Kramp, by Chilean journalist and writer María José Ferrada. As a helper to her father, a traveling salesman, the girl travels the roads, towns and cities, creating and exploring worlds, connecting what exists between earth and sky. M introduces poiesis by embodying her childhood, a childhood of the world, offering us an experience of the openness of language and the world. Trying to explain the mechanism of all things from her surroundings, M also encounters the inexplicable in the world of sales, in parental relationships, in the radical and silent violence of the Chilean dictatorship. Our approach to María José Ferrada's work is brought into dialogue with María Zambrano, Giorgio Agamben, Walter Benjamin, Martin Heidegger, Raquel Gonçalves and Leonardo Souza, among outhers.
