Anales de Lingüística was founded in 1941 by the philologist of Cataluña, Joan Corominas, also founder of the Instituto de Lingüística de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, and the author of the famous Diccionario Crítico Etimológico de la Lengua Castellana, among other great dictionaries and additional works. From its origin, this journal had an international character. Indeed, there we can find articles of wellknown linguists, like Corominas, Leo Spitzer, Robert Salmon, Antonio Tovar, Theodor Elwert y Salvador Canals Frau.
Although at the very beginnings, the emphasis had been put in ethimological studies, nowadays the journal includes papers from several linguistic areas, like Anthropological Linguistics, Psycolinguistics (in particular, the comprehension and text production processes), Sociolinguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Hispanic Grammar and Philology, Discourse Analysis (particularly, in academic and research settings), Applied Linguistics, and Philosophy of Language, among others.
Research articles are submitted to members of the Scientific Editorial Board or to members of the national and international community of specialists. Manuscripts are reviewed by two anonymous readers. Authors should wait at least one month for a decision. Upon favorable deciding on
the acceptance of the manuscript for publication, the Editorial Board will inform the author(s) about readers’ decision. The frequency of the journal is biannual.
